Applications are invited from suitably qualified Ugandans to fill the vacant posts existing in the Uganda Institute of Information and Communications Technology (UICT), Kampala. UICT is a Public Tertiary Institution established by Statutory Instrument No. 79 of October 2005, managed and operated by the Uganda Communication Commission (UCC) according to the UCC Act, 2013.

The Institute invites qualified candidates to apply for temporary employment as part-time lecturers at UICT in ICT & Engineering and Management Departments to teach the following:

ICT Department

  • Computer Graphics Design/Desktop Publishing (3)
  • Website Development (2)
  • Programming (2)
  • Electrical or Electronics Engineering (4)
  • Telecommunication (Communications) (2)

Management Department

  • Communication Skills (3)
  • Innovation and Entrepreneurship (3)

The contract is on a Semester basis for six (6) months depending on the availability of the teaching load and satisfactory performance.  Eligible candidates within and outside UICT are encouraged to apply for part-time teaching.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

The main purpose of the job:

To design and deliver quality teaching, research, and consultancy programs in line with the Departmental mandate

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  1. To participate in curriculum development and review abiding by appropriate QA standards and keeping abreast of pedagogic developments in the subject area/s
  2. To prepare teaching materials, Practical procedures, course outlines, and handouts and update your record of work in the coordinator’s office on a daily basis.
  3. To prepare and deliver lectures and conduct practical’s/fieldwork (where applicable) according to the timetable from the first day of the semester in all the course units stated above.
  4. To ensure regular attendance according to the timetable submit students’ daily attendance and inform your supervisor of their continuous progress.
  5. To conduct continuous assessment of students including progressive assignments both theory and practical tests as required by the department and giving timely feedback to students and the Head of Department. 
  6. To set examination papers, prepare marking guides, invigilate and mark examinations in accordance with the course outlines
  7. To enter results for the students in the course unit you have been allocated to teach into the system after marking
  8. To participate in research and innovations and supervise student’s internships or industrial training and student projects.
